Awards season is primed to begin now that we are rolling into August. We see these acclaimed movies in the coming months, and their titles are recited again and again going into the new year courtesy of the prestigious ceremonies dedicated to honor them and the achievements they have made. One such staple of Awards Season is when the Hollywood Foreign Press honors the best of the best in film and television at the Golden Globes Awards and comedian/talk-show host Jimmy Fallon has been tapped to be the Master of Ceremonies.
Indeed, Jimmy Fallon will be hosting the Golden Globe Awards for the first time this coming January, marking the first “new” host for the awards show since 2013.
Fallon will fill the shoes that used to be filled by veteran hosts Ricky Gervais and the tandem of Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. Gervais has hosted the program from 2010, 2011 and 2012 and returned to host the Golden Globes last year. Fey and Poehler ran the show for three years from 2013 to 2016, the last year marking their final stint at hosting the show, so it makes sense for the Hollywood Foreign Press to find some new blood for the festivities and Fallon is certainly qualified to bring the humor and wit to keep the audience, both at home and in the audience, in good spirits.
The 74th Annual Golden Globe Awards air on NBC on January 8, 2017.
