Ant-Man is a part of Phase 2 of Marvel’s Avengers Initiative, but it isn’t exactly a closer to this stage. I still count the close of Phase 2 as The Avengers: Age of Ultron, so let’s call Ant-Man the epilogue of Phase 2; not really an installment of this current stage of the franchise and yet not really the kickstarter for Phase 3. Anyway, here’s the story on Ant-Man: prominent scientist Hank Pym recruits a reformed thief named Scott Lang for a heist. Pym’s rival, Darren Cross is about to sell technology capable of giving the common man superhuman abilities, which can only end one way: chaos. Pym gives Lang a suit capable of stealing the technology to prevent it from falling into the wrong hands. The official trailer for Ant-Man has just been released online.
Directed by Peyton Reed and written by Adam McKay and Paul Rudd, Ant-Man stars Rudd as the title character. Rounding out the cast includes Michael Douglas, Evangeline Lily, Corey Stoll, Michael Peña, Bobby Cannavale, Judi Greer, Tip “T.I.” Harris, John Slattery and Hayley Atwell. Ant-Man arrives in theaters on July 17, 2015.
