To commemorate the 30th Anniversary of the “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” franchise, producer Michael Bay and director Jonathan Liebesman will unveil a new rebooted live-action adventure. Intrepid New York City reporter April O’Neil has noticed a surprising rise of ninja activities and the police and the government are powerless against this new threat. One night, April notices a small force that is skilled enough to counter this new ninja threat and after successfully following the mysterious foursome, she makes a surprising discovery. These four ninjas are actually mutated adolescent turtles, who have been living in the sewers of New York City under the care and tutelage of their rat sensei. Leonardo, Michaelangelo, Raphael and Donatello are New York’s only hope against this shadowy Foot Clan and their leader, the Shredder.
What am I expecting to see?: This movie has all of the makings of being an epic failure for so many reasons. Michael Bay is attached to the project and there are going to be radical alterations to the Turtles’ mythology, the cast including Megan Fox, Will Arnett, Whoopi Goldberg, William Fichtner, Minae Noji, Pete Ploszek, Noel Fisher, Jeremy Howard, Alan Richtson, Johnny Knoxville, Tony Shalhoub and Danny Woodburn aren’t exactly elite acting talents, the visual effects and character designs look awful and honestly, this movie looks like a complete travesty, but that shouldn’t stop fans of this beloved franchise from seeing this, even though it looks destined for failure. “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” should at least be moderately entertaining.
