At last! My most anticipated movie of 2014 is about to arrive in theaters this week. Five years ago, the story about a boy and his pet brought great change to his village and great joy to moviegoers the world over. Now, that boy and his pet are older and the twosome is about to discover that the world they know, is bigger than what they previously thought, for secrets are about to be revealed, new threats are on the cusp of gaining power and these two characters are the only hope for their respective cultures. The viking-dragon tandem of Hiccup and Toothless are back and are ready for take-off in DreamWorks’ “How to Train Your Dragon 2.”
What am I expecting to see?: I fell head over heels with the first “How to Train Your Dragon” film, and my expectations could not be higher for this installment. Dean DuBlois now assumes sole direction for the franchise, after previously co-directing with Chris Sanders for the first film, bringing back the talented voices of Jay Baruchel, America Ferrera, Gerard Butler, Craig Ferguson, Jonah Hill, Christopher Mintz-Plasse with notable newcomers Cate Blanchett and Djimon Hounsou added to the story based on the beloved children’s book by Cressida Cowell. “How to Train Your Dragon 2” has a lot of promise and I expect nothing short of complete delivery of a film that is engaging, funny, charming, action-packed, smart and is capable of building off the success of the first film. This is my most anticipated film of 2014 and I hope it becomes my favorite once I leave the theater.
