And the new director of “Ant-Man” is…

Comedic director Peyton Reed will make the jump to the superhero genre with “Ant-Man”

Peyton Reed. Reed will step in to direct the film that kick-starts Phase Three of Marvel’s Avenger Initiative, starring Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Evangeline Lily, Michael Peña, Corey Stoll and Patrick Wilson. Since Edgar Wright bowed out of the project due to creative differences regarding the screenplay, Marvel has been filtering through possible directors to find a suitable replacement and at last, they have settled on Reed.

For those unfamiliar with his name and body of work, Peyton Reed is adept at the comedy genre. His name is tied with films such as “Bring it On,” “The Break Up” and “Yes Man.” Also, joining the crew of the size-shifting hero is Adam McKay, who will pen the script for “Ant-Man.” McKay’s resume includes “Anchorman: the Legend of Ron Burgundy,” “Step Brothers,” and “The Other Guys.” In fact, McKay will be reunited with Paul Rudd, given that both worked together in both “Anchorman” films. “Ant-Man” will still promise to make its July 17, 2015 release date now that both Reed and McKay have jumped on board.
