2014 marks the 60th Anniversary of the world’s greatest movie monster. To commemorate this milestone, a reboot of this reptilian titan’s film franchise directed by Gareth Edwards, starring Bryan Cranston, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Ken Watanabe, Sally Hawkins and Juliette Binoche will be this week’s featured film. Max Borenstein pens the story which pits the iconic beast against malevolent entities that threaten to through nature out of balance and humanity is caught in the cross hairs, completely unprepared for what is coming. This week, “Godzilla” returns to the big screen.
What am I expecting to see?: Gareth Edwards is taking on a challenge, bringing “Godzilla” out of obscurity but it looks as if he knows what he is doing. The film looks ominous, heavy, action-packed and yet, cryptic. Bryan Cranston leads this cast and it looks as if he is going to command a solid performance with Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Ken Watanabe ready to support. “Godzilla” looks like this film is hungry for relevance and on its 60th birthday, it looks primed to take it.
