Phase two of Marvel’s Avengers Imitative continues with Chris Evans in his second solo outing as Marvel’s “Star-Spangled Man with a Plan”. Following the events that transpired in “The Avengers,” “Captain America: the Winter Soldier” finds Steve Rogers still looking for his own place in the modern world. In this film, Rogers decides to continue to fight the good fight working for S.H.I.E.L.D alongside fellow Avenger Natasha Romanov, codenamed Black Widow. As Captain America struggles to find where he belongs, a shadow emerges to threaten the future of S.H.I.E.L.D. and this shadow has a tie to Cap’s heyday. The only confirmed information S.H.I.E.L.D. has on this new threat is a name: the Winter Soldier. The soldier is just as formidable as Captain America and when they meet face to face, Captain America’s past will undoubtedly come back to haunt him.
What am I expecting to see?: Directors Anthony and Joe Russo have promised a feature that will change the landscape of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and I hope to not be disappointed. “Captain America: the Winter Soldier” looks edgy, fast-paced and action-packed from the promos and trailers and I hope that the story, penned by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, will up to what is visually seen. Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson look comfortable reprising their roles as Captain America and Black Widow, as does Samuel L. Jackson donning the eye-patch for Nick Fury once more, but I want to see how Sebastian Stan performs as the Winter Soldier and how their the characters of Captain America and Bucky Barnes is played out in this feature. I’m also looking forward to Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson, a.k.a. Falcon, as well as what newcomers, such as Robert Redford, Emily VanCamp and Frank Grillo bring to the film as well. In a word, I expect “Captain America: the Winter Soldier” to live up to the definition of the word “game-changer.”
