Mike Wazowski and James “Sulley” Sullivan are a dynamic team at “Monsters Inc.,” but they haven’t always been best friends. The new Disney-Pixar animated feature “Monsters University,” takes a trip back in time to when Mike and Sulley were roommates in college and they couldn’t stand each other. This prequel gives fans a new introduction into the visually stunning animated world of freaky creatures and fiends while narrowing on the rivalry-turned-friendship of the two main characters and introduces some new characters along the way.
What am I expecting to see?: “Monsters Inc.” was an Oscar-winning animated feature and a precious addition to the amazing legacy that Disney and Pixar have built. This prequel has big expectations to fill even though it is somewhat flying under the blockbuster radar. The hook this movie has is the introduction of younger Mike and Sulley, voiced by Billy Crystal and John Goodman, which should be enough to pique the interest of fans of “Monsters Inc.,” to come and see. Director Dan Scanlon is tasked with setting the stage for the film to transition into “Monsters Inc.” and the rest of the cast includes Helen Mirren, Steve Buscemi, Peter Sohn and Joel Murray. I’m expecting this to be a fun family feature with above average animation, everything a Disney-Pixar animated feature should be.
